Chapter 9 - The Final Stand

Constance looked down at her dead son with a brief, entirely dismissive sigh.
She turned her cold, dead eyes toward me, her finger slowly tightening on the trigger of her golden pistol.
She confidently told me that killing me would be the most satisfying business transaction she had made all year.
Suddenly, her own cell phone began to violently beep with a series of frantic, emergency notifications.
She briefly glanced down at her screen, and every ounce of color instantly drained from her aristocratic face.
Her massive financial empire had been completely liquidated in a matter of seconds.
She screamed in pure, unhinged rage, aiming her weapon back at me with shaking, desperate hands.
She laughed hysterically, stating that even without her billions, she could still enjoy watching me die.
I stood up slowly, raising my hands in surrender while keeping my body firmly positioned between her and Sarah.
I calmly informed Constance that the Department of Justice was not just tracking the money I had sent them.
I had also programmed Kieran's phone to broadcast our exact GPS coordinates directly to the local FBI field office.
Constance sneered, arrogantly claiming that the local police chief was on her payroll and would never let her be arrested.
She boasted that her mercenaries would simply kill the responding officers and bury us all in the foundation of her next high-rise project.
She prepared to fire the fatal shot, fully believing she was completely untouchable.
But before she could pull the trigger, the massive steel doors of the warehouse were violently blown off their hinges by a tactical explosive.
Dozens of heavily armored federal agents flooded into the building, their blinding tactical flashlights piercing the darkness.
A booming voice over a megaphone ordered everyone to drop their weapons immediately.

Constance's highly paid mercenaries instantly surrendered, throwing their rifles to the ground rather than fighting the federal government.
Constance stood completely alone, her golden pistol shaking violently in her manicured hand as a dozen red laser sights painted her chest.
