Chapter 3 - The Fake Paramedics

Adrian violently ripped his son back against his chest.
He kicked the fake paramedic directly in the kneecap.
The man howled in pain and reached for a weapon hidden inside the medical kit.
Adrian's bodyguards opened fire, turning the side of the ambulance into shredded metal.
The second fake medic scrambled back into the driver's seat.
He slammed the ambulance into reverse, smashing through the wrought-iron gates.
Adrian did not have time to chase them.
He turned to his lead security man.
"Bring my armored sedan to the front right now!" he barked.
He looked down at Hannah, who was still clutching the damp cloth.
"Do you know anything about pediatric medicine?" he demanded.
Hannah did not flinch under his terrifying gaze.
"I know enough to keep him alive until we reach a safe hospital," she replied.
Adrian nodded and gestured for her and little Maisie to get into the bulletproof car.
He shoved Natalie into the back seat alongside them.
"You are coming with us so I can keep an eye on you," he snarled.
The heavy doors locked with a solid, echoing thud.
The driver slammed on the gas, tearing away from the estate.
Inside the cool cabin, Hannah went to work.
She instructed Adrian to hold the baby at a specific angle.
She used supplies from the car's emergency kit with shocking precision.
Adrian watched the maid with growing suspicion.
No ordinary housekeeper moved with the calm, calculated efficiency of a trauma surgeon.
Owen finally let out a loud, piercing cry.
It was the most beautiful sound Adrian had ever heard.
The baby was breathing normally again.
Adrian let his head fall back against the leather seat in relief.
Then his phone buzzed with an encrypted message from his chief of security.
"Boss, we checked the junior lawyer's phone."
"He wasn't trying to kidnap the baby."
"The car was just a distraction to get you out of the house."

Adrian's blood ran cold as he realized the truth.
"They are inside the vault."
