Chapter 6 - The Beast Unleashed

Elena stood up slowly, positioning her body carefully between Mrs. Bellini and the wounded mafia boss.
Sophia was crying silently, clutching her worn brown teddy bear tightly against her chest.
"Let her go, Rosa," Adrian commanded, his voice dark and dangerous despite his weakness.
Mrs. Bellini just laughed, adjusting her grip on the deadly weapon.
"You are in no position to give orders, Adrian," the old housekeeper sneered.
"The Vargas cartel offered me a comfortable retirement in exchange for the child and the drive."
Elena locked eyes with her daughter, trying to project a calmness she absolutely did not feel.
"Sophia, honey, throw the bear to the nice lady," Elena said softly.
"No, it's mine," Sophia sniffled, hugging the toy tighter.
Mrs. Bellini raised the gun and aimed it directly at the child's head.
"I am out of patience," the old woman snarled.
Before anyone could blink, a terrifying roar echoed from the grand staircase.
Titan bounded down the hallway, his jaws covered in Marco's blood, looking like a demon from hell.
Mrs. Bellini panicked and swung her weapon toward the massive dog, firing a burst of bullets.
The shots missed entirely as Titan leaped off the wall, launching himself through the air.
He collided heavily with the housekeeper, sending her crashing into a heavy antique table.
The gun skittered across the polished marble floor.
Elena lunged forward instantly, snatching Sophia out of the chaos and pulling her into a tight hug.
Adrian did not hesitate.
He stepped forward and kicked the submachine gun far out of the housekeeper's reach.
Titan stood over Mrs. Bellini, growling ferociously, ready to tear her apart at a single command.
"Call him off," the old woman begged, her false sweet persona completely shattered.
Adrian leaned down, pressing his revolver against her forehead.
"Where is the extraction team waiting?" he demanded softly.
"On the roof," she whimpered, pointing upward with a trembling hand.
"They have a helicopter coming in two minutes."
Adrian nodded slowly, pulling the hammer back on his gun.
Suddenly, the massive glass windows at the end of the hallway exploded inward in a shower of deadly shrapnel.
Four heavily armed Vargas cartel mercenaries swung into the corridor on tactical ropes.

They immediately raised their rifles, placing red laser dots squarely on Elena and Sophia's chests.
"Drop the weapons and hand over the drive," the lead mercenary shouted.
