Chapter 7 - The Rusted Fortress

The piercing alarm of the missile lock fills the cramped, vibrating cockpit.
Hadrian aggressively throws the helicopter into a steep, stomach-dropping dive.
"Deploying flares!" Viper screams, slamming his fist onto the countermeasures button.
A bright spread of magnesium flares shoots out from the tail of the chopper.
The missile swerves blindly toward the intense heat, detonating violently in mid-air.
The concussive shockwave shatters the cockpit windshield, sending glass flying into Hadrian's face.
The helicopter spins violently out of control, the tail rotor completely destroyed by the blast.
Hadrian wrestles with the useless controls, aiming the falling wreckage toward the upper helipad of the rig.
"Brace for impact!" he roars as the metal skids slam brutally into the rusted steel grating.
The chopper screeches across the helipad, tearing up sparks before crashing into a stack of shipping containers.
Hadrian kicks his door open and drags a dizzy Viper out of the smoking ruins.
They barely clear the blast radius before the helicopter explodes in a massive ball of fire.
Alarms begin to blare across the entire facility, echoing over the crashing ocean waves.
Hadrian raises his rifle, ignoring the blood pouring from a deep cut on his forehead.
They move silently through the labyrinth of rusted pipes and narrow, slippery catwalks.
Two heavily armed guards round the corner, but Hadrian takes them down with two suppressed, surgical shots.
He retrieves a security keycard from one of the bodies and swipes it at the central control room door.
The heavy steel door slides open, revealing a horrifying, high-tech command center.
The Fiancée sits in a plush leather chair, sipping champagne with a cruel smile.
Sorrel is locked inside a heavy steel cage, suspended precariously over a massive, open drill shaft.
Hadrian aims his rifle directly at the wicked woman's chest.
"Lower the cage and step away from the console!"
The Fiancée laughs softly, not showing a single ounce of fear.
"You really are predictable, Hadrian, but you brought the wrong friend to a gunfight."

Hadrian feels the cold, unforgiving barrel of a pistol press hard against the back of his neck.
He turns his head slightly and sees Viper holding the weapon, a cold, apologetic look in his eyes.
