Chapter 9 - The Brink of Death
The incredibly deafening flatline alarm aggressively echoed throughout the sterile emergency medical tent.
Khloe's exhausted eyes completely rolled backward as she lost all consciousness on the cold stretcher.
The severe internal bleeding caused by Isabella's brutal kick had finally triggered catastrophic organ failure.
Marcus screamed in pure terror as a medic forcefully pulled the crying baby from Khloe's arms.
"Get the baby out of the tent right now, we are actively losing the mother!" the lead paramedic roared urgently.
Two heavily armored FBI agents grabbed Marcus by the shoulders and dragged him outside into the cold air.
Marcus collapsed onto the wet dirt, sobbing hysterically as he stared helplessly at the glowing tent.
Inside, the highly trained medical team aggressively initiated intense emergency cardiovascular resuscitation.
They shocked her failing heart with heavy defibrillator paddles three separate, incredibly agonizing times.
The terrible minutes dragged on like an endless lifetime for the utterly terrified, completely broken husband.
Uncle Arthur, his bleeding arm heavily bandaged, sat quietly next to Marcus on the damp ground.
"She is an incredibly stubborn fighter, Marcus, she is absolutely surviving this," Arthur swore confidently.
Suddenly, the terrifying, continuous flatline sound aggressively stopped altogether in the silent forest.
It was slowly replaced by the beautiful, steady beep of a beating, fully functioning human heart.
The lead medic stepped out of the tent, wiping heavy sweat from his completely exhausted brow.
"We stabilized her safely, she is absolutely going to fully recover," the medic smiled warmly.
Marcus praised every single holy power in the entire massive universe for this absolute medical miracle.
He rushed back into the bright medical tent and gently kissed her pale, beautiful forehead.
Khloe slowly fluttered her heavy eyes open, offering him a highly tired, incredibly loving smile.
The federal agents safely transported the happy family to a highly secure, heavily guarded hospital in the city.
Isabella's entire massive criminal organization was systematically and totally dismantled by the federal government.
The wicked heiress was heavily guarded in a federal cell as she awaited her massive, highly publicized trial.
