Chapter 4 - The Betrayal Inside

Shattered glass rained down like deadly diamonds across the luxurious penthouse floor.
Damien lunged forward instantly, throwing his massive body over the surgeon and his newborn daughter to shield them.
Automatic gunfire chewed aggressively through the expensive plaster walls, completely destroying the medical equipment in the adjacent room.
Damien's elite guards immediately returned fire, filling the penthouse with deafening noise and thick, choking smoke.
"Get them to the underground bunker immediately!" Damien roared over the chaotic gunfire.
He pulled a heavy tactical pistol from his shoulder holster and sprinted toward the broken glass windows.
He accurately fired three rapid shots into the darkness, dropping a sniper positioned on the neighboring rooftop.
The immediate threat was temporarily neutralized, but the silence that followed was deeply unsettling.
Damien rushed down to the fortified bunker where Maren was resting weakly on a medical cot.
She held their tiny daughter against her chest, her eyes wide with sheer, undeniable terror.
"They found us already," Maren whispered, trembling uncontrollably as the baby cried softly.
Damien knelt beside the cot and gently stroked the baby's soft cheek to calm his own racing heart.
He knew that Vincent Hale could not have bypassed the penthouse security so quickly without inside help.
He walked over to the dead assassin his men had dragged into the hallway for inspection.
Damien searched the dead man's pockets and pulled out a highly encrypted tactical radio.
The radio buzzed abruptly, and a familiar voice echoed through the small speaker.
"Is Rowe dead yet?" the voice asked with cold anticipation.
May you like
Damien's blood ran completely ice cold.
It was the voice of his own head of security, a man who was standing right next to Maren inside the bunker.
