Chapter 8 - The Breach

"Get entirely under the bed right now, Jessica!" Giovanni roared, pulling a heavy, tactical handgun from his shoulder holster.
I didn't hesitate for a single second.
I aggressively grabbed Lily from the expensive silk sheets, covering her mouth to keep her from screaming as she woke up abruptly in absolute terror.
I scrambled frantically underneath the massive king-sized bed, pulling my crying daughter tightly against my chest.
The heavy, suffocating darkness beneath the bed smelled entirely of expensive cedar wood and pure, metallic fear.
Violent, heavy gunfire suddenly erupted completely outside the bedroom door, tearing aggressively through the quiet mansion.
I heard the terrifying, deafening sounds of wood completely splintering and grown men screaming in absolute agony.
Giovanni quickly flipped the massive oak dresser entirely onto its side, aggressively barricading the heavy bedroom door.
"Mommy, I am so scared," Lily sobbed quietly into my neck.
"I know, baby, but we have to be as quiet as tiny mice right now," I whispered frantically, tears streaming heavily down my own face.
The heavy bedroom door was violently kicked from the outside, the massive hinges severely groaning under the incredible pressure.
Giovanni aggressively took cover entirely behind the overturned dresser, aiming his tactical weapon directly at the door.
"If they successfully breach this room, Jessica, you do not come out from under that bed until I specifically tell you to," Giovanni commanded loudly over the chaotic noise.
"Giovanni, please don't die," I cried out, entirely shocked by how deeply I actually meant it.
He quickly looked back at me, his intense grey eyes flashing with absolute, terrifying determination.
"I just found my family, Jessica; I am absolutely not dying tonight."
The heavy wooden door finally completely shattered inward, raining thick splinters across the expensive carpet.
Three heavily armed Russian mercenaries aggressively stormed into the luxurious room, firing their automatic weapons entirely blindly.
Giovanni instantly returned fire with terrifying, lethal precision.
The deafening, explosive sound of the gunshots in the enclosed room completely rattled my teeth and made my ears ring violently.
I squeezed my eyes tightly shut, desperately shielding Lily with my own fragile body.
I heard two incredibly heavy bodies brutally hit the floor, completely dead.
But the third mercenary aggressively rushed completely past the barricade, firing wildly toward the center of the room.
Giovanni violently lunged completely out of his cover, tackling the massive Russian brutally to the carpet.
They fought aggressively, rolling violently across the floor just inches away from where I was hiding.
I watched in absolute, paralyzing horror as the mercenary pulled a long, wicked combat knife from his tactical vest.
He brutally swung the sharp blade, aggressively slicing a deep, bloody gash directly across Giovanni’s left shoulder.
Giovanni grunted entirely in pain, but he did not stop fighting for a single second.
He violently grabbed the mercenary’s armed wrist, brutally twisting it until I heard a horrific, loud crack.
The massive Russian screamed in pure agony, dropping the bloody knife onto the carpet.
Giovanni quickly grabbed his dropped handgun and fired a single, completely silent shot directly into the man's chest.
The violent fight was instantly over, leaving the luxurious bedroom entirely silent except for Giovanni’s heavy, labored breathing.
He slowly stood up, heavily clutching his bleeding shoulder.
"Jessica, it is completely clear, come out now," he gasped softly.
I quickly pushed myself entirely out from under the bed, still holding Lily tightly in my arms.
I gasped loudly when I saw the incredible amount of dark blood soaking entirely through his white dress shirt.
"You are severely hurt!" I cried, my pediatric nursing instincts completely taking over instantly.
"It is just a very deep scratch," he lied smoothly, wincing aggressively as he applied heavy pressure to the wound.
I carefully set Lily down on the far corner of the room, completely away from the dead bodies.
"Let me look at it right now," I demanded aggressively, pulling his bloody hand completely away from the wound.
The cut was incredibly deep, completely slicing through his expensive shirt and deep into his thick muscle.
I quickly ran entirely into the massive master bathroom and grabbed a thick, white towel, forcefully pressing it hard against his bleeding shoulder.
"We need to get you completely out of this house and to a hospital right now," I stated firmly.
Giovanni let out a harsh, incredibly humorless laugh.
"We absolutely cannot leave this room, Jessica."
"Why not?" I demanded angrily.
"Because Ivan Volkov’s heavily armed men currently control the entire lower level of the massive estate."
My heart instantly sank completely into my stomach.
"What about your father?" I asked fearfully.
"Dominic is entirely locked securely in his heavily reinforced panic room, safely waiting for our massive reinforcements to arrive."
"When exactly are they going to arrive?" I asked, pushing the towel aggressively harder against his wound.
"In exactly twenty minutes," Giovanni answered, his face completely pale from the massive blood loss.
Suddenly, a completely loud, deeply distorted voice echoed heavily from the shattered hallway.
"Giovanni Fierro!" the terrifying, Russian-accented voice yelled loudly.
"I officially know you are completely trapped in there, bleeding like a pathetic, stuck pig!"
Giovanni completely tensed under my hands, violently reaching for his empty weapon.
"It is Ivan Volkov himself," Giovanni whispered darkly.
May you like
"I will gladly let you absolutely live tonight, Giovanni," Ivan yelled from the dark hallway.
"All you have to do is entirely hand over the pathetic woman and the fake child, and I will safely walk away."
