Chapter 7 - The Trap
The highly disciplined armed men did not violently yell or immediately aggressively open fire.
They simply stood in perfectly absolute silence, keeping their heavy weapons completely trained on Adrian and Audrey.
The incredibly thick, acrid smoke from the massive vault explosion slowly began to fully dissipate.
Adrian aggressively pushed Audrey firmly behind his broad back to physically shield her from the deadly guns.
"Who exactly are you heavily working for?" Adrian demanded incredibly loudly to the silent soldiers.
The highly organized circle of armed men slowly parted directly down the middle.
A tall, incredibly well-dressed older man confidently walked slowly forward with an expensive silver cane.
Adrian completely dropped his heavy gun entirely onto the marble floor in absolute, paralyzing shock.
"That is physically completely impossible," Adrian whispered with a heavily trembling, terrified voice.
The older man smiled a terribly cold, highly calculating smile.
"Hello, Adrian," Elias Thorne said softly.
Elias was supposedly brutally murdered in a massive car bombing exactly five long years ago.
He was the brutal former boss of the entire Chicago syndicate and the strict man who originally trained Adrian.
"You actively faked your own violent death," Adrian stated, his brilliant mind racing to rapidly connect the dots.
"I needed to quietly step entirely into the dark shadows while you aggressively built my legitimate empire for me," Elias confessed smoothly.
Elias slowly pointed his expensive cane directly at Audrey, who was violently shaking behind Adrian.
"And now, you will gently hand over that little black book if you ever want her sister to safely breathe again."
Audrey bravely stepped slightly out from completely behind Adrian's protective stance.
"Let my innocent sister safely go right now, and I will happily give you the damn ledger," she desperately bargained.
Elias laughed a highly dry, entirely humorless laugh that echoed loudly in the empty bank lobby.
"I completely intend to highly keep all three of you permanently right where I can legally see you," Elias corrected her.
Dante suddenly stepped out from directly behind Elias, holding a heavily loaded shotgun.
Dante aggressively stepped fully forward and violently struck Adrian directly across the temple with the heavy weapon.
Adrian heavily collapsed entirely onto his knees, bleeding heavily onto the white marble floor.
Audrey loudly screamed and desperately tried to catch him, but two massive guards violently grabbed her arms.
"Bring the crying secretary entirely with us to the shipyard," Elias ordered his heavily armed men coldly.

Elias slowly looked firmly down at Adrian's heavily bleeding, completely semi-conscious body on the floor.
"Leave the boy right here and initiate the building's demolition sequence to bury him alive."
