Chapter 4 - The Escape Plan
Pure adrenaline flooded my system, temporarily overriding the agonizing pain in my chest.
I looked at Julian, silently pleading with him to find a legal loophole to stop this nightmare.
Julian snatched the blue form from the table and scanned the medical credentials.
He pointed out that the document was highly irregular because it lacked a secondary psychological evaluation signature.
My father simply smirked, claiming the secondary doctor was currently walking down the hallway to finalize it.
We had less than five minutes before they legally trapped me in a locked psychiatric ward.
Nurse Marisol quietly slipped into the room, pretending to check my intravenous fluid bags.
She leaned in close to my ear and whispered that the doctor who signed the form was infamous for accepting massive bribes from wealthy families.
She told me that if they took me to the fourth floor psychiatric wing, I would completely lose access to my phone and my lawyers.
I looked at Julian and told him we had to leave this hospital right this exact second.
Julian immediately began making calls to a private, heavily secured medical facility across the city.
Marisol efficiently unhooked my monitor wires, intentionally silencing the alarms so the front desk would not be alerted.
She helped me out of the bed, supporting my weight as a sharp, blinding pain shot through my fractured ribs.
Julian threw his expensive trench coat over my hospital gown to hide my bandages.
We slowly made our way toward the private service elevator at the back of the wing.
Just as the metal elevator doors began to slide open, a shrill, hysterical voice echoed down the corridor.
My sister Lauren came sprinting around the corner, wearing a designer tracksuit and crying hysterically.
She did not ask how I was feeling or if I was in pain.
She threw herself in front of the elevator doors, blocking our only path of escape.
She screamed that I was completely ruining her life and destroying her family.
I told her to move out of the way before I had Julian press assault charges.
Lauren refused to move, her eyes wide with a terrifying, manic desperation.
May you like
She screamed that her husband, Greg, had already forged my signature on a ten million dollar collateral loan against my company assets.
She warned me that if I left the hospital and froze my accounts, Greg would be murdered by the syndicate before sunrise.
