Chapter 8 - The Aftermath

Dalia stared at the thick legal envelope in her trembling hands.

She opened her mouth to argue, but the sheer weight of the evidence completely silenced her.

She turned and fled the ballroom, disappearing into the cold New York night with absolutely nothing left to her name.

The gala was officially canceled, the remaining guests slowly filing out into the lobby in shocked silence.

Gabriel gently guided me away from the chaos and into the quiet sanctuary of the venue’s VIP lounge.

He locked the heavy wooden door behind us, instantly shutting out the flashing cameras and the noise.

I sank into a plush leather sofa, letting out a long, exhausted breath that I felt like I had been holding for two years.

Gabriel sat next to me, resting his warm hand carefully on my pregnant stomach.

"You were absolutely magnificent tonight, Khloe," he murmured, kissing my forehead.

"I couldn't have done any of this without your support, Gabriel," I admitted softly.

He shook his head, looking at me with pure, unadulterated admiration.

"You orchestrated his downfall perfectly before you even met me."

"I merely provided the stage for you to execute your masterpiece."

Just then, our baby gave a massive, rolling kick against Gabriel’s palm.

He gasped slightly, a brilliant, genuine smile spreading across his handsome face.

"She is definitely going to inherit her mother's fighting spirit," Gabriel laughed.

I closed my eyes, leaning my head against his shoulder as a wave of complete peace washed over me.

For the first time since I lost my previous babies, I wasn't terrified of the future.

I knew this child was safe, protected by a man who valued my mind just as much as my heart.

The legal fallout over the next few months was swift and entirely merciless.

Julian’s trial was a public spectacle that dominated the national news cycle for weeks.

He was found guilty on all federal charges and sentenced to twenty years in a maximum-security prison.

His tech empire was completely dismantled, and I absorbed his remaining assets into my own consulting firm.

Dalia accepted a desperate plea deal, serving three years of probation and permanently losing her modeling contracts.

She was last seen working as a hostess at a mid-level restaurant in Miami, completely forgotten by the internet.

My life, however, moved beautifully forward.

Gabriel and I were married in a quiet, private ceremony in Tuscany, completely hidden from the relentless paparazzi.

The Italian countryside that had once healed my broken heart was now the foundation of my new family.
