Chapter 10 - The Truth Comes Out

The stern officer quickly clamped the heavy steel handcuffs onto Bruce's wrists.
"Bruce Miller, you are under arrest for federal wire fraud and grand larceny," the officer stated clearly.
Jim had used his burner phone in the dining room to send an anonymous tip to the FBI.
He had forwarded all the digital evidence of Bruce's embezzlement hours before the cartel arrived.
Bruce screamed insults and threatened everyone as the officers strapped him into his seat.

Jim peacefully surrendered to the authorities and agreed to testify in exchange for a lighter prison sentence.
The local police confirmed the cartel men were intercepted by the Coast Guard before they ever reached shore.
The terrifying nightmare of our family vacation was finally over.
A few days later, Lily and I were safely back in the comfort of our own home.
The afternoon sun was shining brightly, and the trauma of the resort felt like a fading bad dream.
I made a hot cup of chamomile tea and sat on the living room couch, feeling truly at peace.
Lily sat on the soft carpet, happily playing with her favorite stuffed animals.
She suddenly reached deep into the small pocket of her little denim jacket.
She pulled out a glittering, massive diamond necklace and placed it gently on her teddy bear.

"Uncle Jim told me to hide this for him before the bad men came," she giggled innocently.
I stared in absolute horror at the multi-million dollar jewel, realizing the cartel cash wasn't the only thing my brother stole.
