Chapter 3 - The Secret Offer
The heavy silence inside the moving SUV was absolutely suffocating.
Two agonizing days passed before Luca summoned me to his massive executive office at Moretti Global.
The DNA test results had come back perfectly positive, scientifically proving what his eyes had already told him.
I sat stiffly in the leather chair across from his imposing mahogany desk, refusing to show any signs of weakness.
Evelyn sat gracefully on the sofa near the window, sipping sparkling water and looking incredibly supportive of her husband.
"I am filing for immediate joint custody, and you will move into my residential building by the end of the week," Luca announced coldly.
"You cannot simply snap your fingers and uproot our entire lives," I argued, my voice shaking with pure rage.
"I have unlimited resources, Nia, and if you fight me, I will ensure you never see them again," he warned darkly.
His cruel threat shattered the last remaining ounce of respect I had ever held for the man I once loved.
Luca suddenly received an urgent phone call and stepped out of the office, leaving me entirely alone with his new wife.
The moment the heavy glass door clicked shut, Evelyn’s supportive facade completely vanished into thin air.
She walked over to my chair, her high heels clicking sharply against the polished marble floor.
"You really need to take your bastards and leave the country immediately," Evelyn hissed viciously.
"I am not going anywhere, Evelyn, and you cannot intimidate me," I replied, standing up to match her height.
She reached into her expensive designer handbag and pulled out a thick, certified bank check.
"This is ten million dollars, Nia, tax-free and completely untraceable."
She shoved the massive check onto the desk right in front of me.
"Take the money, change your names, and disappear to Europe before he destroys you completely."
I looked at the ridiculous amount of money, genuinely shocked by how desperate she was to get rid of us.
"Why do you want me gone so badly?" I asked, narrowing my eyes in deep suspicion.
"Because Luca is finally mine, and I will not let you ruin my perfect empire," she snapped impatiently.
"He divorced me because he thought I was infertile, Evelyn, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about," I countered.
Evelyn let out a harsh, arrogant laugh that made her sound completely unhinged.
"He divorced you because my father paid Doctor Aris to forge your medical records, you stupid woman."
My entire world stopped spinning as the devastating weight of her accidental confession crushed the breath out of my lungs.
"What did you just say?" I whispered, my blood turning to pure ice.
Evelyn realized her massive mistake immediately, her eyes widening in absolute terror as she looked past my shoulder.

Luca was standing silently in the doorway, his face pale and his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles were completely white.
