Chapter 2 - The Confiscation
Caleb sat completely frozen as Mrs. Baxter extended her open hand.
The entire class watched in terrified silence as the teacher towered over him.
"I said give me the phone, Caleb," she ordered with a dangerous edge to her voice.
Caleb slowly unzipped his backpack and handed over the device.
Mrs. Baxter snatched it from his grasp and immediately marched out of the classroom.
She did not return for the rest of the period, leaving the students in a state of anxious shock.
When the final bell rang, an announcement ordered Caleb to report to the principal's office.
Caleb walked down the empty hallway, his heart pounding heavily against his ribs.
He entered the office to find Principal Vance sitting behind a massive oak desk.
Mrs. Baxter was standing next to the principal, looking incredibly confident.
"Caleb, recording a teacher without consent is a federal privacy violation," Principal Vance lied smoothly.
The principal held up Caleb's phone and tapped the screen several times.
"I am deleting this highly inappropriate photograph to protect you from legal action," the principal stated.
Caleb watched in horror as the principal permanently erased the image from the local gallery.
"If you ever speak of this incident again, you will be expelled immediately," Principal Vance warned.
Caleb nodded silently, feeling completely defeated as he took his wiped phone back.
He walked out of the school building with his head hung low.
Malik was waiting for him by the bike racks, looking deeply ashamed.
"I am so sorry I dragged you into this mess," Malik whispered.

Caleb suddenly stopped walking and looked up with a small, defiant smile.
"They deleted the picture from my phone, but they forgot about my cloud drive," Caleb revealed.
