Chapter 8 - The Altar Betrayal

A tall man in a sharp charcoal suit walked briskly down the center aisle.
It was Damian, looking healthy, determined, and completely free.
Gavin's jaw dropped in absolute shock, his face draining of all color in a single second.
Naomi screamed, half-rising from her seat in pure horror.
Damian stopped right at the base of the altar, looking directly at his trembling parents.
"I object to this wedding," Damian announced loudly, his voice echoing off the stone walls.
"Not because they love each other, but because my brother and parents are a criminal syndicate."
Gavin lunged forward, his face twisted in sudden rage.
"You're insane, get him out of here!" Gavin yelled to the private security guards.
Before the guards could move, the side doors of the cathedral opened again.
Dozens of federal agents and local police officers flooded the building, surrounding the pews.
Marcus stepped forward holding a stack of federal arrest warrants signed by a superior judge.
"Naomi Herndon, Elijah Herndon, and Gavin Herndon, you are under arrest for racketeering, assault, and financial fraud," Marcus declared clearly.
The guests erupted into absolute chaos, gasping and scrambling out of their seats.
Gavin looked at me with wild, desperate eyes.
"Alyssa, tell them it's a lie! Tell them you love me!" he pleaded.

I lifted my veil, looking at him with absolute pity.
"I never loved a monster, Gavin," I whispered.
