Chapter 3 - The Ghost Squad

The mercenaries closed in, thinking the massive explosion had broken us.
They had absolutely no idea what kind of men they were dealing with.
Ghost Squad did not panic, and we definitely did not surrender.
Miller opened fire first, dropping two men with precise headshots through the thick smoke.
Hayes and Carter moved like shadows, using the burning debris of the ambulance for cover.
I drew my combat knife and lunged at a mercenary who stepped too close.
I disarmed him in a single fluid motion and used his assault rifle to clear the upper catwalk.
Gunfire echoed endlessly off the brick walls of the old meatpacking plant.
These men were highly trained, but they lacked the desperate fury of a husband fighting for his wife.
Within three minutes, the courtyard was entirely silent.
I grabbed the last surviving mercenary by his tactical vest and slammed him against a brick wall.
"Who gave the order?" I roared, pressing the barrel of my weapon to his chest.
The man coughed up blood and stared at me with wide, terrified eyes.
"It was Sheriff Cole!" he begged, his hands raised in surrender.
"Where did they take my wife?" I asked, pushing the gun harder against his ribs.
"The county courthouse," he stammered quickly.
He explained that Sheriff Cole had locked down the entire building for a private meeting with Voss.
I dropped the mercenary and turned to my team, signaling them to move out immediately.
We piled back into the stolen police cruisers and sped toward the center of the city.
I checked my weapon, making sure I had enough ammunition for what was coming.
We arrived at the county courthouse, finding the perimeter heavily guarded by corrupt deputies.
Carter looked at me and asked if we were really going to assault a government building.
I told him I would burn the entire city to the ground if it meant saving Emily.
Suddenly, the mercenary’s radio crackled to life inside our cruiser.
May you like
Sheriff Cole’s voice echoed through the speaker, filled with absolute panic and terror.
He screamed that Cameron had lost his mind and was killing everyone inside the building.
