"Julian, wait! What does that mean? What did he just say?" she demanded, her voice shrill and echoing off the marble walls.
Julian didn't answer her. He spun around, his eyes locking onto me as Marcus and I exited the courtroom. The arrogance that had defined his posture for the last twelve months was completely gone, replaced by a wild, desperate panic.

Victoria grabbed Julian's arm. "Julian, tell me she's lying. Tell me she doesn't own the company. We just put a down payment on the summer house!"
"Shut up, Victoria," Julian snapped. He looked back at me, his voice dropping to a pathetic, pleading whisper. "Clara, please. You can't do this. That company is my life. I'm the CEO. You can't just take it."
