Chapter 10 - A NEW DAWN

Two years later.
The olive estates in Seville had never looked more beautiful. Under my sole control, I had fired the corrupt managers, paid the workers a fair wage, and expanded the vineyards. The land was thriving, breathing life back into a legacy that had once been poisoned by greed.
I stood on the veranda of the restored estate, looking out over the endless rolling hills of green and silver.

I turned around. Alba was running across the terracotta tiles, her dark curls bouncing in the wind, a bright, beautiful smile on her face. She was the spitting image of her mother.
I knelt down and caught her in my arms, lifting her high into the air as she giggled uncontrollably.
Dr. Sofia Vargas and Hector Ramirez were sitting at the patio table, sipping wine and laughing. They had become our chosen family.
I held Alba close to my chest, kissing her forehead. The pain of losing Elena would never fully disappear. It was a scar I would carry until my last breath. But looking at the peace we had built, and the beautiful, safe life Alba now enjoyed, I knew Elena was smiling down on us.

The monsters were locked away in the dark, and we were finally living in the light.
"Look, Alba," I whispered, pointing out toward the horizon as the sun began to set over the estates. "This is all yours. And no one will ever take it away from you."
