Chapter 8 - The Press Conference

Two weeks later, Liam held a massive, televised press conference to officially announce his candidacy for State Senate. He stood on a podium in front of city hall, surrounded by banners, flashing a million-dollar smile.
"I am a man of family values," Liam projected into the microphone. "I believe in loyalty, responsibility, and taking care of our own."
"Then why did you abandon us on a porch twenty-three years ago?"
The entire plaza went silent. The news cameras swiveled.
Marching down the center aisle of the plaza were Stella, Harper, and Chloe. They held massive, blown-up posters. It wasn't a protest sign. It was the note Liam had written on the diner napkin: "I'm sorry, I can't do this."
Liam turned pale. "Security—" he stammered.
But the press was already swarming the girls. Harper stepped up to a cluster of microphones.
"This man is Liam Caldwell," Harper announced clearly. "He is running on family values. But when our mother died, he abandoned his eight-month-old triplets. He didn't pay a dime in child support. The man who raised us—the man who actually embodies family values—is our uncle, Elias. Liam only returned to our lives to buy our silence for this campaign."

Stella handed copies of the unpaid child support legal filings to the reporters.
Liam's campaign manager dropped his clipboard and walked away. The investors standing behind Liam quietly stepped off the stage. In less than five minutes, the millionaire’s carefully constructed empire of lies completely collapsed on live television.
