Chapter 1 - The Hidden Protocol

The hospital door swung open with a sudden, violent crash.

A tall man in a tailored black suit stepped into the room with absolute authority.

Two heavily armed guards filed in immediately behind him, their hands resting on their holsters.

My father froze completely, still awkwardly clutching my crying newborn son against his chest.

My mother took a terrified step backward and bumped into the edge of my bed.

"Put the child back in the bassinet," the tall man commanded in a voice as cold as ice.

My father tried to put on a brave face and squared his shoulders.

"This is a private family matter, so I suggest you leave," my father stammered defensively.

The man simply shook his head and pointed a gloved finger directly at the ceiling.

"The button your daughter just pressed did not just call a nurse," he explained smoothly.

"It activated a silent lockdown protocol and initiated a live recording of this entire room."

My brother Jason suddenly turned pale and looked desperately toward the hallway.

"Every threat you just made has been securely uploaded to our private servers," the man continued.

My father slowly lowered his arms and placed my crying baby back into the warm bassinet.

I quickly reached out and pulled the small plastic crib as close to my body as possible.

"Who are you?" I demanded, my voice trembling from both exhaustion and pure adrenaline.

The man pulled a sleek leather badge from his inner jacket pocket and flipped it open.

"My name is Marcus Vance, head of the private security firm your husband hired."

I stared at him in complete confusion because Daniel was just a regular software engineer.

We certainly did not have the kind of money required to hire elite private security teams.

Vance signaled to his guards, who immediately stepped forward and grabbed my father by the arms.

"You are going to regret this, Maya," my father spat venomously as they restrained him.

"Remove them all from this floor," Vance ordered without even looking at my furious parents.

The guards forcefully escorted my struggling father, my silent mother, and a terrified Jason out of the room.

Once the door clicked shut, the oppressive tension in the air finally began to lift.

I looked down at my three beautiful, sleeping babies and breathed a heavy sigh of relief.

"Thank you for arriving so quickly," I whispered to Vance while wiping tears from my exhausted eyes.

Vance did not smile, and his expression remained dangerously stoic.

"I am not just here because you pressed the panic button, Maya," he said quietly.

He reached into his briefcase and pulled out a thick, legally binding document with a red seal.

"I came here to show you what your husband did right before he left the country."

He placed the heavy document on my lap, and my heart completely stopped.

It was a fully notarized adoption contract, officially transferring custody of one child to my brother.

And the signature at the very bottom belonged undeniably to my husband, Daniel.
