Chapter 1 - The Eviction

Richard laughed loudly, his voice echoing off the expensive marble walls of the living room.

He took a slow sip of his bourbon and looked at me with a gaze full of absolute pity.

He told me I was acting like a hysterical woman who had clearly lost her mind during my business trip.

Vivian sneered from the sofa and pulled the pink lace blanket tighter around the illegitimate baby in her arms.

Brooke smiled confidently and suggested I pack my bags quickly so I would not upset her beautiful new family.

My arrogant husband proudly reminded me that his signature was on the deed to this magnificent estate.

I gently set Ethan down on a soft chair and wiped the dirt from his tear-stained cheeks.

I reached into my designer handbag and pulled out a small black remote for the home's smart security system.

I pressed a specific red button that instantly locked all the exterior doors with a heavy metallic click.

I calmly informed Richard that my late father had intentionally drafted the property deed using a private shell corporation.

I explained that the lengthy documents Richard signed last year did not give him ownership of the house at all.

Instead, those papers legally waived all of his marital rights to every single asset my family owned.

Richard dropped his crystal glass on the floor, watching it shatter into dozens of sharp, glittering pieces.

His face turned a dangerous shade of purple as the horrifying reality of his mistake finally set in.

I picked up my cell phone and dialed my private security firm, reporting three hostile trespassers refusing to leave my property.

Richard lunged toward me with his fists clenched, screaming that he would completely destroy me and my pathetic son.

Before his hands could even reach my throat, the heavy front door was violently kicked open from the outside.

Two uniformed police officers rushed into the foyer, but they did not point their weapons at my husband.

Instead, one of the officers pulled out a pair of steel handcuffs and walked directly toward me.

The officer sternly announced that I was under arrest for the severe physical abuse of a minor.
