Chapter 7 - The Wisconsin Safehouse

The coordinates led to an isolated, heavily forested region in northern Wisconsin.
Gabriel's tactical team approached the location under the cover of darkness.
They wore night-vision goggles and moved silently through the dense pine trees.
Through the green tint of the lenses, a massive wooden cabin emerged from the shadows.
Smoke was rising from the stone chimney.
Two heavily armed guards patrolled the wooden wrap-around porch.
Gabriel signaled his men to fan out and encircle the property.
He raised his suppressed rifle and eliminated the first guard with a single shot to the head.
Luca took down the second guard simultaneously.
They breached the front door with a silent, explosive charge.
Gabriel swept through the rustic living room with lethal precision.
The cabin was warm and smelled of firewood and baby formula.
He found Dominic sitting in a rocking chair by the fireplace.
Dominic did not have a weapon in his hand.
He was simply staring into the flames, waiting for them.
Gabriel leveled his rifle at the traitor's chest and demanded to know where Norah was.
Dominic smiled sadly, showing the deep scar on his cheek.
He told Gabriel that Norah was long gone.
He explained that this cabin was just a relay station to buy her more time.
Gabriel asked why Dominic had betrayed his own family.
Dominic looked at Luca, his eyes filled with profound sorrow.
He confessed that he had faked his death because Gabriel had secretly ordered a hit on him three years ago.
Luca froze, turning his weapon slightly toward Gabriel in disbelief.
Gabriel did not deny it.
Dominic explained that Norah had saved his life that night and offered him a chance at revenge.
Gabriel pulled the trigger, shooting Dominic directly in the shoulder.
Dominic collapsed onto the wooden floor in agony.
Gabriel stood over him and demanded the final destination.
Dominic spat blood onto Gabriel's boots and laughed.
He told Gabriel to check the laptop sitting on the kitchen counter.
Gabriel walked over to the laptop and woke the screen.
It was displaying a live, encrypted video feed.
Gabriel saw his wife holding the two newborn babies in her arms.
May you like
But she was not looking at the camera with defiance.
She was crying in absolute terror because a man had a gun pressed firmly to the back of her head.
