Chapter 9 - The Brothers Collide

Julian had somehow escaped his bindings and was now raining heavy caliber bullets completely across the pier.
The deafening roar of the machine gun tore through the rusted metal of the forklift protecting them.
"He must have tracked the GPS in my phone!" Lorenzo shouted loudly over the sheer chaos.
He pushed Evelyn and the rescued hostage frantically toward the edge of the dark, freezing water.
"Dive in, it is the only possible way to avoid the crossfire!" Lorenzo ordered.
Evelyn looked at the black, churning water of Lake Michigan and felt a surge of absolute terror.
Before she could jump, Julian shifted his aim aggressively, shredding the concrete dock right at their feet.
Lorenzo stepped directly into the lethal line of fire, aiming his handgun steadily at the speeding truck.
He didn't aim at his traitorous brother.
He aimed precisely at the massive, red fuel tank strapped to the side of the armored vehicle.
Lorenzo fired a single, absolutely perfect shot.
The bullet pierced the metal tank instantly, and the sparks from the scraping tires ignited the heavily leaking gasoline.
The truck exploded outward in a spectacular fireball, illuminating the entire shipyard in brilliant orange light.
The immense force of the blast flipped the massive vehicle into the air, sending it crashing violently into the freezing lake.
Celeste, realizing she had completely lost her entire army, desperately tried to sprint toward a waiting speedboat.
Lorenzo was much faster.
He tackled her brutally to the wooden planks of the dock, pinning her down and pressing his hot gun to her forehead.
"It is over, Celeste," Lorenzo breathed heavily, his eyes burning brightly with vengeance.
Celeste stopped struggling completely, looking up at him with a cold, incredibly hollow laugh.
"You are a massive fool, Lorenzo," she spat, dark blood trickling from her perfect lips.
"I didn't plan the bombing at the restaurant to take over your empire."
Lorenzo pressed the metal barrel harder against her pale skin.
"Then why did you do it?" he demanded furiously.
"I did it because the real boss of Chicago ordered me to eliminate you," she whispered.
May you like
A deeply cold chill ran down Evelyn's spine as she listened closely from the shadows.
"Who is the real boss?" Lorenzo growled.
