Chapter 6 - The Vault Breacher
The deafening explosion shook the entire foundation of the luxurious estate.
Thick black smoke billowed up from the basement stairs, temporarily blinding everyone in the grand foyer.
Ethan used the distraction to punch David squarely in the jaw, knocking the corrupt lawyer completely dazed.
He grabbed the fallen handgun and quickly backed up the stairs to protect Sarah.
Out of the swirling smoke, Nathan emerged looking like a terrifying, vengeful ghost.
His expensive suit was torn, his face was covered in soot, and he was holding a massive steel crowbar.
Nathan had survived the ambush in the vault and used emergency mining explosives from a corporate project to break free.
He stared at Vanessa, his eyes filled with a terrifying mix of profound heartbreak and absolute rage.
He finally understood the horrifying reality of the deception that had ruined his entire life.
Vanessa took a fearful step backward, her previous confidence completely shattered by his arrival.
She tried to play the victim one last time, crying fake tears and claiming David forced her to do everything.
Nathan did not say a single word as he slowly walked toward her with the heavy crowbar dragging on the floor.
David suddenly regained his senses and pulled a secondary, hidden weapon from his ankle holster.
He aimed the small gun directly at Nathan's back, screaming that he would not let them ruin his perfect plan.
Ethan raised his own weapon and fired a single warning shot that shattered a massive vase right next to David's head.
He ordered the corrupt lawyer to drop the gun immediately or the next bullet would not miss.
David froze, realizing he was completely surrounded and hopelessly outgunned.
He slowly lowered his weapon and dropped it onto the marble tiles with a defeated sigh.
The terrifying standoff seemed to finally be over, and the truth had triumphed.
But Vanessa suddenly burst into a chilling, manic laughter that echoed through the quiet house.

She reached into the pocket of her stolen dress and pulled out a small, blinking remote control.
She announced that the vault explosion had triggered a chain reaction in the estate's compromised gas lines.
