Chapter 6 - The Acquisition
The following Monday, the floors of Belmont Financial were in absolute chaos.
Marcus strutted into the office, feeling like a king. He was finally rid of his dead-weight wife, he had Chloe on his arm, and rumors were swirling that a massive multinational conglomerate was acquiring their firm. This was it. The buyout would skyrocket Belmont's stock, and as an SVP, Marcus was positioned to make millions.
"They’re saying Vanguard International bought us out," Chloe whispered, her eyes wide with greed as she leaned over Marcus’s desk. "Arthur Vanguard himself orchestrated the hostile takeover over the weekend. Marcus, this is our ticket to the billionaire’s club."
Marcus grinned, pulling her in by the waist. "I told you I was going places, Chloe."

An emergency all-hands meeting was called in the grand ballroom of the Pierre Hotel for that Friday. The memo stated that Vanguard International would be installing a new CEO to oversee the Belmont subsidiary, and all executive positions were under immediate review.
Marcus spent the week networking furiously, buying a new $10,000 suit, and practicing his pitch to the new Vanguard leadership. He was ready to prove he was apex predator material.
