Chapter 8 - The Confrontation

Dominic stared at his phone, his hands shaking violently. Decades of ruthless maneuvering, blackmail, and blood... gone in sixty seconds. He was no longer the CEO of Sterling Holdings. He was nothing.

He looked up. Evelyn was watching him, a profound sadness mixing with the victory in her eyes.

"This is how my father felt," she whispered. "When you stripped his company from him while he begged on his knees. You took everything from him, Dominic."

"You b*tch," Dominic hissed, drawing a hidden stiletto knife from his bespoke shoe. He didn't care about the money anymore. He didn't care about surviving. He only wanted to see her bleed.

He lunged at her.

Evelyn raised the Glock, but Dominic was fast. He batted her arm away, the gun firing into the ceiling with a deafening crack. Concrete dust rained down on them.

He tackled her to the floor, pinning her arms down, raising the knife high above his head.

"I built that empire!" Dominic roared, his eyes bloodshot, spit flying onto her face. "I am a god in this city! You are a ghost!"

Before he could bring the knife down, Evelyn brought her knee up, striking him viciously in the groin. Dominic gasped, his grip loosening. Evelyn bucked her hips, throwing him off her. She scrambled to her feet, grabbing the gun and pointing it directly at his forehead.

"You aren't a god, Dominic," she panted, her gown torn, blood trickling from her lip. "You're just a thief in a nice suit."

Dominic stayed on his knees, clutching his stomach, glaring up at her. "Then pull the trigger. Finish it."

"Death is too easy for you," Evelyn said, picking up her tablet. "I want you to live a long, long life. As a nobody."

She tapped the final sequence on her screen.
