Chapter 4 - The Sins of the Elite

Dominic stared at Evelyn in horror. "You're insane. They will hunt you to the ends of the earth for this. You're committing domestic terrorism."

"I’m committing justice," Evelyn corrected, tapping a tablet on the steel table. "Watch the screen, Dominic. Let’s see what your friends have been hiding."

In the ballroom, the screens shifted from Evelyn’s face to a high-definition spreadsheet.

"Let us begin with Judge Harrison Thorne," Evelyn announced.

In the crowd, an elderly man in a velvet tuxedo turned pale as a sheet.

"Judge Thorne," Evelyn continued, her voice echoing mercilessly. "Two years ago, you presided over the class-action lawsuit against Apex Chemical for poisoning the groundwater in Flint. You dismissed the case for lack of evidence."

The screen flashed. Audio files began playing. It was Thorne’s voice, negotiating a five-million-dollar bribe deposited into a Cayman Islands shell company named 'Bluebird'.

"The evidence is now on the screen, along with the routing numbers to your secret accounts," Evelyn stated. "The files have been scheduled to send directly to the Department of Justice, the New York Times, and the victims' families."

"No!" Judge Thorne screamed, collapsing to his knees as the other elites backed away from him as if he were diseased.

"However," Evelyn’s voice softened slightly. "I am a merciful woman. On the screen, you will see a QR code. It links to a secure, decentralized public trust fund. Judge Thorne, you have sixty seconds to transfer your entire net worth—eighty-two million dollars—into this fund. If you do, the email to the DOJ is deleted."

A countdown clock appeared on the screens. 00:59... 00:58...

"Transfer the money, Thorne!" screamed a tech CEO. "Or she's going to out all of us!"

With shaking hands, the Judge pulled out his encrypted banking device and frantically typed in his credentials. With two seconds to spare, the screen flashed green: TRANSFER COMPLETE.

In the vault, Dominic felt his stomach drop. She wasn't just exposing them. She was bankrupting them.
