Chapter 10 - The False Victory

The order hung in the tense air for a fraction of a second.
Before the mercenaries could pull their triggers, the massive floor-to-ceiling windows of the office completely shattered.
A highly coordinated tactical team rappelled down from the roof, swinging through the broken glass with military precision.
They tossed flashbang grenades into the room, blinding the mercenaries with a deafening explosion of light and sound.
Daniel didn't flinch.
He raised his rifle and fired with surgical accuracy, dropping two mercenaries while the tactical team neutralized the others.
Charles Voss stumbled backward in the chaos, temporarily blinded by the flashbang.
Daniel lunged across the massive mahogany desk, grabbing Charles by the throat and violently disarming him.
He slammed the corrupt chairman against the expensive bookshelves, pinning him helplessly.
Maria rushed forward, grabbing the crying Sophia and pulling her tightly into a desperate, fierce embrace.
“Mama!” Sophia sobbed, burying her face in Maria’s shoulder.
The leader of the tactical team lowered his weapon and gave Daniel a sharp military salute.
It was Elias, holding the glowing silver encryption drive in his hand.
Elias had bypassed the server room and called in Daniel’s private security forces to raid the estate.
“The server is secured, Boss,” Elias announced proudly.
“And the feds are waiting outside to arrest Charles for embezzlement and attempted murder.”
Daniel dropped Charles to the floor in absolute disgust, watching as his loyal men dragged the traitor away.
The nightmare was finally over.
Daniel had reclaimed his company, saved the little girl who woke him up, and exposed the conspiracy.
He walked over to Maria and Sophia, his stern face softening completely.
He knelt down to meet Sophia at eye level, offering a warm, genuine smile.
“Thank you for telling me not to be scared,” Daniel whispered gently.
Sophia stopped crying and smiled back, wrapping her tiny arms around the billionaire's neck.
Maria let out a massive sigh of profound relief, finally feeling safe after the longest night of her life.
Daniel promised Maria that she would never have to clean another house again, offering her a massive financial reward.
Elias escorted them downstairs to a waiting car, ensuring they would be taken to a secure, luxury hotel for the night.
As Maria buckled Sophia into the plush backseat of the town car, she noticed a small, folded piece of paper tucked into Sophia’s jacket pocket.
She assumed it was one of Sophia’s drawings that Daniel had returned to her.
She pulled the paper out and unfolded it under the dim interior lights of the car.
It was not a drawing.
It was a highly detailed, printed architectural blueprint of Daniel Whitfield’s private hospital room.
Maria’s blood ran completely cold as she stared at the terrifying document.
She noticed a small, encrypted memory card taped to the back of the blueprint.
She looked down at her three-year-old daughter, who was staring back at her with eyes that suddenly looked entirely too old, completely devoid of childlike innocence.
Sophia reached out and snatched the blueprint from Maria’s trembling hands.
“I told you not to look at that, Mama,” Sophia whispered, her voice completely changing into a chillingly calm, calculated tone.
Before Maria could even scream, the child pulled a small, suppressed pistol from her pink backpack and pointed it directly at Maria’s chest.

“Daniel thinks he won,” Sophia smiled wickedly.
“But he has no idea who sent me to wake him up.”
