Chapter 1 - The Cold Marble

The lobby of the Solmere Hotel was designed to impress.

Polished marble floors stretched endlessly under the glowing crystal chandeliers.

The most powerful people in the city stood around in expensive suits and designer gowns.

Everyone inside the room looked completely untouchable.

Until the entire room suddenly went dead silent.

A young woman wearing a simple, faded tank top was being forcefully dragged across the shining floor.

Her attacker was Victoria, a glamorous socialite dressed in an immaculate white silk gown.

Victoria’s manicured fingers were twisted violently into the young woman’s dark hair.

The young woman’s bare hands were scraped and bleeding from the cold marble.

A dark, painful bruise covered the left side of her face.

A thin line of fresh blood stained the corner of her trembling lips.

"Get out!" Victoria shouted, making sure everyone in the massive lobby could hear her.

"People like you do not belong in places like this."

The wealthy guests simply watched the brutal scene unfold.

But not a single person stepped forward to help.

No one asked what had really happened in the VIP lounge upstairs.

No one in the room knew the absolute truth.

The woman being humiliated on the floor was Charlotte Vale.

She was the rightful heir to the entire Solmere Empire.

She was the woman who legally owned the very hotel they were standing in.

Charlotte had entered the building disguised as an ordinary cleaning maid.

She was there because she had uncovered something far more dangerous than a simple accident.

After her mother’s sudden and tragic death, Charlotte secretly discovered a shocking conspiracy.

The very people her family trusted to protect her inheritance had been working behind her back.

Their ultimate plan was incredibly simple.

They wanted to take total control of the billion-dollar empire.

They needed to erase Charlotte’s identity completely.

And they had to make sure she never returned to claim what rightfully belonged to her.

Now, standing inside the company that was legally hers, Charlotte was being treated like a filthy trespasser.

Victoria threw Charlotte onto the ground near the revolving glass doors.

The socialite had absolutely no idea who she had just attacked.

Charlotte wiped the blood from her mouth, keeping her head down to hide her calculating eyes.

She could have revealed her identity right then, but she needed physical proof of the treason.

Suddenly, the crowd parted respectfully as a tall, older man in a tailored gray suit approached.

It was her uncle, Richard Vale, the current acting CEO of the Solmere Empire.

Victoria smiled brightly and immediately adjusted her silk gown to look presentable.

"Mr. Vale, I caught this rat trying to steal from the penthouse suites," Victoria lied smoothly.

Richard looked down at Charlotte with eyes that held no warmth or mercy.

Charlotte held her breath, waiting to see if the man who raised her would recognize her bruised face.

Richard smiled a chilling, predatory smile.

"Take this thief down to the basement and make sure she never breathes a word of this to anyone," Richard commanded his security guards.

Charlotte realized with pure horror that her uncle was not just a greedy thief.

He was the man who had ordered her mother's murder.
