Chapter 7 - The Twin Confrontation

The red glow of the flare cast long, terrifying shadows across the warehouse walls.
Maya stood on the metal catwalk, her eyes burning with seven years of unbridled rage.
She did not look like the soft, elegant wife she used to be.
She looked like a hardened survivor who had absolutely nothing left to lose.
"Drop your weapons, or I will paint this floor with your blood," Maya ordered the guards below.
The three armed guards hesitated, looking frantically around the dark room.
One guard foolishly raised his pistol toward the catwalk.
Maya did not even blink.
She squeezed the trigger, sending a burst of bullets directly into the guard's kneecaps.
The man screamed in agony and collapsed onto the concrete floor.
The other two guards immediately threw their weapons away and raised their hands in surrender.
Claire scrambled to her feet, staring at her twin sister in absolute awe.
Maya quickly descended the metal staircase and pulled Claire into a desperate, crushing hug.
"I told you I would find you," Maya whispered, tears streaming down her dirty face.
"They put Leo in the trunk of Julian's car," Claire cried, gripping her sister tightly.
Maya's expression instantly hardened into cold steel.
"Julian is heading to his private yacht at the harbor," Maya said, picking up a discarded pistol.
"He is trying to flee the country before the news breaks," she explained.
"But the microchip was destroyed, we have no proof anymore," Claire told her in a panic.
Maya smiled a dangerous, wicked smile as she loaded the heavy weapon.
"That chip was just a decoy I made Leo carry to distract them," Maya revealed.
"I sent the real video files to every major news network in the country an hour ago," she said proudly.
The sound of distant police sirens began to wail through the night air.
The city was finally waking up to the monster Julian Sterling truly was.
"We have to get to the harbor before he leaves with my son," Maya declared.
They rushed out the back exit of the warehouse and hotwired a rusted pickup truck.
Maya drove like a absolute maniac, tearing through the city streets toward the dark harbor.
They crashed the truck through the chain-link fence of the private docks and skidded to a halt.
Julian's massive luxury yacht was already detaching from the wooden pier.
Julian was standing on the rear deck, holding a terrified Leo by the collar of his shirt.
Maya leaped out of the truck and aimed her pistol directly at her evil husband.
"Let my son go, Julian!" Maya roared over the sound of the boat's massive engines.
Julian laughed and pulled a gun from his jacket, pressing it against Leo's head.

"You are too late, Maya, we are in international waters now," Julian sneered.
Suddenly, the engine of the yacht sputtered violently and died completely, plunging the boat into silence.
