Chapter 6 - The Doctor's Syndicate

Doctor Blake walked slowly into the room, his expensive shoes crunching on the shattered glass.

He looked at the powered-down servers and let out a dramatic, exaggerated sigh.

He mocked Vincent for being so blind that he paid millions of dollars to the man who murdered his wife.

Vincent lunged forward with a furious roar, swinging the heavy golf club at the doctor's head.

One of the massive mercenaries intercepted the blow, punching Vincent brutally in the stomach.

Vincent collapsed to his knees, gasping painfully for air.

Doctor Blake aimed his pistol directly at my face and ordered me to hand over Isabella's journals.

I clutched the leather books tightly against my chest and refused to move a single inch.

Blake cocked the hammer of his gun, promising to shoot me in the kneecap if I did not comply.

I realized he needed the journals to destroy the evidence before the police breached the house.

I slowly extended my arm, pretending to hand the heavy books over to him in total defeat.

At the very last second, I threw the heavy journals directly into the face of the mercenary holding Vincent.

Vincent used the distraction to grab a jagged piece of the shattered door frame from the floor.

He drove the sharp wood deeply into the mercenary's leg, causing the giant man to scream in agony.

I grabbed the heavy fire extinguisher off the wall and sprayed a massive cloud of thick white chemicals blindly into the room.

The room erupted into total chaos as the mercenaries fired their weapons blindly into the thick fog.

I grabbed Vincent's arm and dragged him through the hidden passage behind the wall safe.

We sprinted through the narrow servant corridors toward the east wing where the boys were trapped.

We reached their bedroom and found Lucas and Leo huddled together, terrified by the sound of gunfire.

I scooped Leo into my arms while Vincent picked up Lucas despite his agonizing injuries.

We ran down the back staircase, heading straight for the underground parking garage to escape.

We reached the garage, but every single luxury car had its tires completely slashed.

Vincent groaned in pain as a bullet wound in his shoulder finally began to bleed heavily through his shirt.

We were trapped in the dark garage with two sick children and a squad of killers hunting us down.

Suddenly, a sleek, bulletproof black SUV roared down the ramp and skidded to a halt in front of us.

The tinted window rolled down, revealing the familiar face of the driver inside.

Vincent sighed in massive relief, recognizing his trusted younger brother and business partner, Julian Moretti.

Julian unlocked the doors and yelled for us to get inside immediately before Blake's men arrived.
