Chapter 1

Part 1 :

"The diner smelled like fresh bread, butter, and coffee.
To most people, it felt warm and welcoming.
To ten-year-old Ethan, it felt like torture.
His stomach twisted with hunger as he stared at an abandoned breakfast plate on a nearby table.
Half a piece of toast.
A few potatoes.
One strip of bacon.
Not much.
But to a boy who hadn't eaten in nearly two days, it looked like a feast.
Slowly, he reached for the toast.
SLAM.
A hand crashed down onto the plate.
“What do you think you're doing?”
The manager's voice echoed through the diner.
Every conversation stopped.
Ethan froze.
“I... I was just hungry.”
“That's called stealing.”
Before anyone could react, the manager grabbed the plate and dumped every bite into the trash.
The metal lid slammed shut.
The sound seemed louder than it should have been.
Several customers watched.
Nobody helped.
Ethan lowered his head, fighting tears.
Then a voice cut through the silence.
“That's enough.”
The diner chef stepped out of the kitchen.
Without saying another word, he disappeared into the back.
Minutes later, he returned carrying a huge breakfast.
Pancakes.
Eggs.
Sausages.
Orange juice.
The largest meal Ethan had ever seen.
The chef placed it gently in front of him.
“You sit.”
His voice was calm.
“And you eat.”
Ethan stared at the food.
“No tricks?”
The chef smiled.
“No tricks.”
As Ethan ate, tears mixed with relief.
Before leaving, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a scratched silver coin.
“All I have.”
The chef pushed it back.
“Keep it.”
Ethan closed his fingers around the coin.
Then looked directly at the man.
“One day,” he promised, “I'll come back for you.”
The chef smiled politely.
He never expected to see the boy again.
Twenty years passed.
Then one rainy morning, a black limousine stopped outside the diner.
May you like
And the man who stepped out was carrying the same silver coin.
