Chapter 7 - The Counterstrike

Arya aimed the silver pistol directly at Tessa's head, her finger resting dangerously on the trigger.
"I knew you were creeping around where you did not belong," Arya hissed maliciously.
Vincent reacted with terrifying speed despite his paralyzed lower half.
He aggressively shoved his heavy wheelchair forward, slamming the metal footrests directly into Arya's knees.
Arya shrieked in pain and stumbled backward, her pistol firing wildly into the ceiling.
Before she could recover her balance, Tessa lunged forward like a coiled spring.
She drove the deadly syringe directly into Arya's thigh and slammed the plunger down entirely.
The poisonous liquid emptied completely into the treacherous woman's bloodstream.
Arya gasped dramatically, dropping her gun as her eyes rolled back into her head.
She collapsed onto the expensive Persian rug, completely unconscious and barely breathing.
Vincent stared at Tessa with absolute, undeniable respect burning in his dark eyes.
"You actually used his own weapon against them," Vincent praised quietly.
Tessa quickly scooped up the silver pistol and handed it directly to him.
"Dominic told me to kill you, or he would murder my sister tonight," she explained rapidly.
"We need to send this audio recording to your loyalists immediately."
Vincent took her phone, his scarred fingers moving quickly across the digital screen.
He forwarded the confession directly to Don Salieri and every loyal captain in his organization.
"They will be here in less than five minutes," Vincent promised, checking the magazine of his new weapon.
"But we still have to survive until they arrive."
The heavy doors of the smoking room suddenly crashed open.
Dominic stood in the doorway, staring in absolute shock at Arya's lifeless body on the floor.
He looked up and saw Vincent holding a gun, with the loyal maid standing bravely by his side.
"You stupid, worthless girl," Dominic roared, drawing his own heavy firearm.
"You just signed a death warrant for your precious little sister!"
Vincent fired twice, but Dominic managed to dive safely behind a thick oak bookshelf.
The four armed mercenaries flooded into the library, firing blindly into the room.
Vincent grabbed Tessa's arm and pulled her down tightly behind the massive mahogany desk.
Wood splinters and shattered glass rained down heavily upon them as the gunfire intensified.
They were completely pinned down, heavily outgunned, and rapidly running out of time.
"I am sorry I brought you into this nightmare," Vincent whispered softly to her over the noise.
"I chose to stay," Tessa replied fiercely, grabbing his hand and holding it tight.

Suddenly, the familiar sound of approaching police sirens wailed loudly in the distance.
But the sirens were instantly drowned out by the roar of a dozen black SUVs crashing through the front gates.
