Chapter 3 - The Brother's Bargain

I stared at Sebastian in pure disbelief.

He had always been spoiled and arrogant, but I never thought he was capable of extortion.

"You want me to sign away a fortune I just found out existed?" I asked him.

"My parents are fools who want to eliminate you, but I am a businessman," Sebastian replied smoothly.

He tossed a luxury pen onto the dusty floorboards in front of me.

"Sign the documents transferring Eleanor's trust entirely to my name," he demanded.

"And what happens if I do?" I challenged him.

"I will give you a fake passport, a hundred thousand dollars in cash, and a flight to Europe," he promised.

"And if I refuse to sign?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Sebastian crouched down to my eye level.

"Then I walk out that door, and my father will ensure you have a tragic, fatal accident before my wedding tomorrow."

I looked at the documents, realizing I was completely trapped.

Just as I reached for the pen, a loud crash echoed from the hallway.

The attic door flew open, hitting the wall with a deafening bang.

Renata Vance stood in the doorway, holding a heavy bronze candlestick.

She had followed Sebastian from the rehearsal dinner after noticing his suspicious behavior.

"What exactly is going on here?" Renata demanded, her eyes darting between us.

Sebastian quickly stood up, trying to block her view of the legal papers.

"Renata, darling, this is just a family misunderstanding," he lied smoothly.

Renata looked at me huddled on the floor and then glared at her fiancé.

"My father called me ten minutes ago and told me everything," she said coldly.

Sebastian's fake smile completely vanished.

He lunged toward Renata with a terrifying look of pure rage in his eyes.
