Chapter 19 - The Fall of the Matriarch

The massive digital projector screen in my office suddenly hummed to life, automatically accepting a highly encrypted, forced video transmission from Europe.
Eleanor's face appeared on the screen, her elegant demeanor entirely replaced by absolute, frantic desperation.
The lavish background of her Parisian chateau was completely destroyed, and the distant sound of heavy gunfire echoed loudly through her microphone.
She screamed violently into the camera, demanding that I immediately wire ten billion dollars to a secure Swiss account.
The massive European syndicate had finally realized her hostile takeover had failed, and they had come to aggressively collect the massive debt she owed them.
She commanded me to save her life, aggressively invoking her title as my mother and attempting to manipulate my childhood emotions.
I sat comfortably in my leather CEO chair, swirling a glass of expensive bourbon with absolute tranquility.
I calmly reminded her that she had willingly abandoned her family, faked her death, hired my abuser, and explicitly ordered the assassination of my father.
I clearly stated that she was absolutely no mother of mine.
I pressed a button on my console, linking Chloe directly into the call.
Chloe proudly confirmed that she had proactively sent Eleanor’s exact GPS coordinates to a highly specialized Interpol anti-terrorist task force.
On the live feed, massive armored vehicles aggressively breached the stone walls of the chateau.
Heavily armed international agents flooded the room behind Eleanor, violently tackling her to the ground and clicking heavy steel handcuffs onto her wrists.
Eleanor thrashed wildly, screaming curses and entirely losing her carefully crafted aristocratic mask.

The agents roughly dragged her away, permanently ending her reign of terror and guaranteeing she would spend the rest of her miserable life rotting in a maximum-security European prison.
The live video feed suddenly cut to black, plunging my office back into a quiet, peaceful silence.
