Chapter 10 - A New Empire

One year later.

The estate was unrecognizable. The dark, oppressive decor Julian had favored was gone, replaced by bright, open spaces filled with sunlight, fresh flowers, and the joyous sounds of a toddler.

I stood on the patio overlooking the manicured lawns, watching little Arthur take unsteady, giggling steps toward Richard, who was acting as a surprisingly enthusiastic godfather.

“He’s got your stubbornness, Clara!” Richard laughed, catching the boy before he tumbled into the grass.

“He’s got his grandfather’s spirit,” I corrected, smiling as I sipped my coffee.

I hadn't just survived the divorce; I had conquered it. Using the reclaimed trust funds, I had taken over Julian’s defunct firm, rebranded it, and turned it into a massive philanthropic foundation dedicated to helping women escape financial abuse. I was the CEO, the owner, and the boss.

The pain of that day—the day Julian rolled his suitcase out the door—felt like a lifetime ago. They had tried to break me. They thought my love for my family made me weak. They didn't realize that a mother’s love is the most dangerous force on earth when threatened.

I picked Arthur up, burying my face in his soft hair, listening to his sweet laughter.

Julian was locked in a concrete cell. Sylvia was a ghost of a memory. But I was here. I was standing in the sun, holding my son, ruling an empire they had tried to steal.

I had never been happier.
