Chapter 7 - The Underground Fortress

The horrifying radio transmission confirmed that my eight-year-old daughter was already lying on an operating table.

I felt a cold, murderous calm settle over my entire body, completely replacing my earlier panic.

Elena drove the massive semi-truck directly through the heavy steel security gates of the corporate parking garage.

The truck violently smashed through the barriers, triggering a deafening cascade of blaring security alarms.

We skidded to a halt near the subterranean freight elevators, grabbing our weapons and jumping out of the cab.

Heavily armed guards immediately poured out of the stairwells, opening fire on our position.

Elena provided expert covering fire, forcing the security team to take cover behind concrete pillars.

I sprinted across the loading dock, moving with a desperate speed fueled entirely by adrenaline.

I reached the heavy steel doors of the freight elevator and shot the electronic control panel to override the lock.

Elena threw a smoke grenade into the center of the garage, obscuring their vision as she fell back to join me.

We slipped into the massive elevator just as the steel doors groaned shut, completely blocking a hail of bullets.

The elevator rapidly descended into the earth, taking us far below the official corporate levels.

I checked the chamber of my stolen pistol, mentally preparing to kill anyone who stood between me and my family.

The elevator chimed softly, and the doors slowly slid open to reveal a pristine, brightly lit medical corridor.

It looked like a state-of-the-art hospital, completely hidden beneath the bustling streets of the city.

Two contractors standing guard at the end of the hall raised their rifles, but Elena and I fired simultaneously.

The guards collapsed instantly, their blood staining the pristine white tiles of the floor.

We moved methodically down the hallway, clearing each sterile room in search of the main surgical theater.

I heard the faint, terrifying sound of Sarah crying from behind a reinforced steel door at the end of the corridor.

I rushed forward and kicked the door with all my might, but the heavy electronic lock held firm.

Elena placed a small block of plastic explosive directly over the magnetic locking mechanism and told me to stand back.

The resulting explosion blew the heavy door completely off its reinforced hinges, filling the room with thick white smoke.

I charged into the surgical theater, coughing and waving the smoke away from my eyes.

Sarah was strapped tightly to a medical chair, a thick needle already inserted into her bruised arm.

She was desperately straining against the leather restraints, screaming for them to leave our daughter alone.

On the other side of the room, Maya was lying completely unconscious on a stainless steel operating table.

The black-market doctor was standing over her, holding a massive, terrifying surgical extraction device.

Arthur sat in a wheelchair nearby, watching the sick procedure with a twisted smile of anticipation.

I raised my weapon and aimed it directly at the corrupt doctor's chest, ordering him to step away from my child.

Arthur calmly pressed a small button on his wheelchair, and the entire ceiling of the surgical theater suddenly descended, revealing three automated machine gun turrets locking directly onto my position.
