Chapter 10 - The False Victory

"Please don't shoot me," Patricia begged, her arrogant, wealthy demeanor completely crumbling into pathetic terror.
She raised her manicured hands, her expensive diamond earrings shaking violently in the dim runway lights.
I did not pull the trigger.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out my encrypted satellite phone, dialing a direct line to the FBI Director.
"This is Colonel Rachel Gardner," I spoke clearly over the whining jet engines.
"I have secured the stolen Department of Defense weapon codes at the Richmond private airstrip."
I stared coldly at Patricia and her whimpering son bleeding on the tarmac.
"I also have the individuals responsible for the treason ready for immediate federal extraction."
I hung up the phone, feeling a massive, overwhelming wave of absolute relief wash over my exhausted body.
The horrific nightmare was finally over.
My treacherous husband was dead, the corrupt Ferguson family was completely destroyed, and my beautiful daughter was safe.
I had successfully protected my country and cleared my name of all the fabricated, treasonous charges.
I turned my back on the pathetic billionaires and began walking slowly back toward my ruined sedan.
I could finally return to the underground clinic, hold Abigail in my arms, and promise her we would start a new life.
My satellite phone suddenly buzzed with an incoming encrypted video call.
I answered it, expecting to see the FBI Director confirming the arrival of the extraction teams.
Instead, the screen flickered to life, showing the dim, sterile interior of the underground medical bay.
The heroic smuggler who had saved Abigail's life was lying dead on the surgical floor in a pool of blood.
The camera slowly panned upward, revealing Abigail sitting completely upright on the medical bed.
She looked entirely healthy, the horrific bruises on her arms completely gone as if they had merely been expertly applied makeup.
"Hello, Mom," Abigail said, her voice completely devoid of the terrified, trembling innocence she had always portrayed.
She smiled, a cold, calculating, and deeply sinister expression that made my blood run completely cold.
"Thank you for eliminating Nicholas, Patricia, and Dad for me," Abigail stated smoothly, adjusting the camera angle.
I stared at the screen in complete, paralyzing horror as the devastating truth finally hit me.
"With all of them dead, I am legally the sole surviving heir to the multi-billion dollar Ferguson defense empire," she explained proudly.
May you like
Abigail leaned directly into the camera, her eyes completely dead and filled with terrifying ambition.
"You were the perfect weapon, Mom, but now I need you to take the fall for all of their murders."
