Chapter 9 - The Dawn of Justice

The helicopter rushed us directly to Julian's private, highly secure medical facility on the outskirts of the city.
A team of world-class doctors immediately took Brandon into an emergency pediatric suite to treat his severe illness.
Julian refused any pain medication while the surgeons stitched up the deep bullet graze on his side.
He sat in the sterile hospital chair, holding my hand tightly as we waited for news about my son.
"The nightmare is finally over, Claire," Julian promised, kissing the knuckles of my trembling hand.
He explained that the police were currently raiding Victoria's remaining properties using evidence he had secretly compiled for months.
Every corrupt guard, hired mercenary, and crooked lawyer on her payroll was being arrested before the sun even rose.
The chief pediatric surgeon finally walked out into the waiting room with a warm, reassuring smile.
"Brandon's fever has broken, and the antibiotics have completely stabilized his condition," the doctor announced happily.
Tears of absolute joy and immense relief streamed freely down my exhausted face.
Emma was fast asleep on a comfortable leather sofa, safe and completely unharmed by the night's terrifying events.
Julian stood up, pulling me completely into his arms and capturing my lips in a deep, passionate kiss.
It was a kiss filled with twenty years of suppressed longing, desperate survival, and pure, undeniable love.
"Marry me, Claire," he whispered against my lips, completely ignoring the stunned medical staff around us.
"I want to give you and the children the perfect, beautiful life you have always deserved," he vowed sincerely.
I looked into the eyes of the man I had loved since childhood, and I did not hesitate for a single second.

"Yes, Julian, I will marry you," I answered, crying happy tears against his chest.
For the first time in my entire life, I felt completely safe, unconditionally loved, and truly at peace.
