Chapter 10 - The Final Play

Elias collapsed over the edge of the skyscraper, disappearing into the dark, rainy abyss without a single sound.

Chloe completely ignored his death, sprinting toward the ledge to see where the priceless drive had landed.

Roman used the momentary distraction to charge across the wet concrete like a freight train.

He tackled Chloe violently to the ground, knocking the sleek pistol completely out of her manicured hand.

Nora sprinted across the helipad, sliding on her knees to pull her sobbing sister into a fiercely protective embrace.

The two remaining mercenaries raised their rifles to shoot Roman, but Nora drew her weapon with lightning speed.

She fired two precise, calculated shots, dropping both men to the concrete before they could even pull their triggers.

Roman straddled Chloe, pinning her arms down as she kicked and screamed with unhinged, venomous rage.

She cursed his name, swearing that the syndicate would never stop hunting him until he was completely dead.

Roman stared down at the woman he had almost married and felt absolutely nothing but cold, empty pity.

He coldly informed her that the drive he threw off the roof was just another fake he found in the server room.

He revealed that the real data had already finished uploading through a hidden backdoor script he wrote during the halon gas attack.

The blaring sirens of dozens of police cruisers suddenly flooded the streets below as the authorities received the leaked files.

Chloe stopped struggling, the terrifying realization of her total defeat finally washing over her pale face.

The police swarmed the rooftop minutes later, dragging the screaming assassin away in heavy steel handcuffs.

Roman and Nora sat quietly on the back of an ambulance, watching the morning sun finally break through the stormy clouds.

Roman gently reached out and intertwined his fingers with Nora's, and she leaned softly against his tired shoulder.

They shared a slow, deeply passionate kiss, knowing the nightmare was finally over and the syndicate was destroyed.

Three weeks later, Roman and Nora were relaxing on a private, sun-drenched beach in the Mediterranean.

A polite waiter approached their lounge chairs, offering them two tropical drinks on a polished silver tray.

Resting neatly beneath the white linen napkin was a small, black burner phone flashing a single text message.

The message coldly stated that the destroyed syndicate was merely a decoy front for the true organization.

It revealed that the real mastermind was Roman's father, and he was politely requesting they come home for a family dinner.
