Chapter 7 - The Siege

I grabbed my assault rifle from the secret compartment beneath the passenger seat.

I ordered Clara to take the children down into the submarine bay hidden beneath the floorboards.

I watched them descend into the darkness before I locked the heavy iron grate behind them.

I moved silently to the shattered window of the dry dock and peered out into the rain.

Six armored tactical vans were parked in a semicircle, their high beams illuminating the entire yard.

Dozens of heavily armed mercenaries poured out of the vehicles, taking up strategic firing positions.

A black luxury sedan pulled up behind the defensive line.

The rear door opened, and my beautiful, estranged wife stepped out into the storm.

Victoria was wearing a pristine white trench coat, looking completely untouched by the chaos she had orchestrated.

She raised an electronic megaphone to her perfectly painted lips.

"It is over, Roman!" Victoria's voice echoed across the rusted metal landscape.

"Hand over the Irish child, and I will let you walk away with your pathetic life."

I laughed softly to myself, checking the tactical detonator in my left hand.

Victoria had forgotten that I had spent my entire youth preparing this exact shipyard for a defensive war.

I didn't bother shouting back a reply.

I simply pressed the glowing red button on the remote.

The perimeter of the shipyard erupted in a massive, blinding circle of explosive hellfire.

Hidden incendiary charges buried beneath the concrete detonated simultaneously.

Three of the tactical vans were flipped completely upside down by the massive shockwaves.

Half of Victoria's private army was instantly vaporized in the screaming inferno.

I kicked open the side door of the dry dock and sprinted into the thick, black smoke.

I moved like a ghost through the wreckage, picking off the surviving mercenaries with precise, silenced shots.

The element of absolute surprise gave me an overwhelming tactical advantage.

Within three minutes, the entire courtyard was utterly silent, save for the crackling flames.

I walked through the burning debris until I reached the black luxury sedan.

Victoria was pinned against the side of the car, coughing violently in the thick smoke.

I pressed the scorching hot barrel of my rifle directly against her spine.

"Get on your knees, Victoria," I whispered coldly into her ear.

She slowly sank to the wet pavement, raising her hands in surrender.

"Who are you selling the baby to?" I demanded, pressing the barrel harder into her skin.

Victoria looked over her shoulder, a manic, bloody smile spreading across her face.

May you like

"I am not selling the baby to anyone, Roman," she laughed breathlessly.

The deafening, rhythmic thud of military helicopter blades suddenly drowned out her laughter.
